Pa-Sticks Vacay 2019: Day 5

The Bostick’s headed out early to Orlando, and Dustin and Michelle left early to eat breakfast out before heading back. I wanted to enjoy one last quiet morning on the balcony with my coffee and bible, so we decided to shoot for leaving at 9:30am. And we pretty much hit the mark.

Heading home from Vacay is depressing, haha! Grady says we should go on strike and go back to the beach! Haha! (For those who don’t live in BG, GM workers have been on strike for several weeks and we have to drive by them everyday, so the boys are always referencing it now)

The first half of the trip went by quick. I listened to an Agatha Christie book (The Murder of Roger Ackroyd) and it made the time fly by. Justin found a place to eat called Kendrick Farms, and it was an awesome stop!!

It’s in Prattville, AL and right off the interstate. They just opened in December they said, and it is really nice. It has a Fixer Upper/Magnolia look inside and is very farmhouse chic. The food was delicious. Justin got a turkey club with some cranberry sauce that was good, Grady got BBQ (they have a big smoker outside!), and me and Griff got burgers. They have homemade ice cream too, but we didn’t want to go overboard before we got back into the car!

They have a cute store attached to the restaurant also, that sells cute decorations, homemade jams and sauces, and produce. We let the boys get tiny pumpkins and gourds and cucumbers.

It was seriously such a fun break from the car. Highly recommend it if you are driving between KY and Orange Beach or Gulf Shores. We will be back!

After that though, the drive got super annoying. It was stop and go for the rest of Alabama I think. So annoying. The boys did so good though, they weren’t whiny and never asked to stop. Total we stopped twice today, and the trip ended up taking 10 & 1/2 hours! Once we hit Nashville it started downpouring so that was super not fun to drive in either.

But we made it home safe and sound! Thank you Lord!

It was a great trip. We really liked going on Fall Break, it was less crowded and felt like more of a break for some reason. I think because summer is already a break for the boys maybe? Anyhow- loved it!
