Christmas 2013: Gingerbread Houses 2013!

Last weekend, we did our annual Gingerbread House Decorating!

Mr. Pate picked out a train for Griffin and I to do this year. Griffin had a blast putting way too much candy on ours, and way too much fun eating all the ones that "fell off"! haha! But in his defense- it was Cameron's fault. She ate the candy first ;-)! haha! Becky got snow caps this year that she and cameron both used; they looked sooooo good.

It was super fun to do it in Gammy Becky's new great room this year. That room is huge and sooo awesome! Griffin got the softest monkey in the world and a tiger mask from Gammy Becky this year, since he loves animals sooo much. We have all had fun wearing that mask. Ha!

You can see our Gingerbread Houses from last year here, and from 2011 here. Love this tradition!

Girls Night Out!

Last week, Becky, Cameron, Jeanice and I finally had a girls night out to celebrate mine and Becky's birthdays (which were in Novemeber! Ha!). We headed down to Nashville to "Sips n Strokes" to have a fun night painting. We got there early and walked around the Gulch (the area sips n strokes is in) a bit and got some coffee.

Then we headed back to get our paintin on! Our teacher this time was actually pretty snarky and got smart/almost yelled at a few people! Rude. And she took a million years for the background and so we had to rush the decorating of the trees at the end. And we were there FOREVER. So all of that kinda sucked. But overall we had a blast, laughed a bunch, and our paintings turned out cute!

After being there forever, we were starving! So where do you stop for food at 11pm? IHop! By the time we got there, this is what we looked like:

We just wanted FOOD! And then it came out and was COLD! Ick. Oh well. I ate every bite- I was starving!!

I got home at 1:30am. Which is super duper late for this girl. And my wonderful son woke right up at 6:30am. Yay.

Super fun girls night though. Love you ladies!! Let's do it again sometime- minus the rude teacher and bad food.

Christmas 2013: Caroling!

We headed out Caroling again this year(Just like last year) with some friends from church. We had the perfect weather for it, and almost didn't even need jackets! We got some delicious cookies from Ms. Marjorie, looked like we were trying to break in to Ms.Kimble's, pulled Larry over on the side of the road and got yelled at by the cops, and sang peacefully to some others! What a fun filled night!

Christmas 2013: 2nd Annual Pate/Broady Opry Trip

Last weekend, we headed down to Opry Mills and Opryland Hotel with the Broady's for some Holiday fun! Last year just Mr.Pate and I went with the Broadys to Rainforrest cafe and to see the hotel lights. This year, we thought that Griffin would just love both, and we were completely right. We decided to go early and do some shopping, which pretty much exhausted us! Ha!

But after that we headed to the Rainforrest Cafe for dinner. Animals are one of griffins absolute favorite things (have you read all of my zoo posts?!!) so we figured this would be right up his alley. I had been before of course, but man it was so much better being with a kid who is just memorized. We sat by the tigers and got to hear them roar a bunch.

It was almost too much for him to take in. Getting him to eat and not just walk around was a challenge! Ha!

After that we headed over to Opryland to find the lights. Last year, we went after Christmas and just did not find enough lights to be impressed. This year we got to see the large outdoor lights that are great! They have a huge nativity scene with scripture being read. Pretty impressive and surprising these days. The indoor lights were ok, but I just always feel like they are going to be more impressive the way everyone talks. Nice, but not wow to me. We still had a blast though!
