I decided to go to the doctor the next day to confirm it. I just felt better trusting the doc vs. a home test, and it was time for my yearly check up anyhow. And she confirmed it! So now it started to sink in to me… I was really going to have a baby! Wow! Mr.Pate and I decided we would tell our immediately family but hold off on telling anyone else right now.
So that Friday night, we called our brothers and sisters and parents. What a strange thing to tell people! I guess I never thought about what it would be like to tell someone, but I just felt awkward. Leave it to me to feel awkward telling people fabulous news.
My sister started crying and made me cry too. My mom got super excited, and my dad seemed not surprised at all. Sheldon was pumped, Dustin was confused (we also woke him up from a nap to tell him), and their mom was thrilled. We couldn’t get a hold of Justin’s dad until Saturday (He is a baker and works nights), but he was excited too. I also told Becky & Gary, cause you know- they’re fam too.
And that was that. Now it was our little secret. My next doctor’s appointment (and first real one) would be Nov 24th, so now we just waited.
