19 Weeks and Counting...

  • How far along: 19 Weeks
  • Total Weight Gained: 9 lbs
  • Maternity Clothes: Maternity pants, regular pants with the belly band thing and regular shirts mostly. I am really liking the belly band now and I am hoping it will get me through for awhile. I also have dug out two pairs of jeans from my larger days that are still working for me, ha!
  • Sleep: I need more of it! Had some crazy dreams this week.
  • Best Moment of the Week(s): We listened to the heartbeat again this week! And we celebrated 5 years of marriage.
  • Movement: Yep! I havent felt it as much this week as last week, but I have felt a few taps here and there.
  • Food Cravings: Salmon, mandarin oranges (which I wasnt a fan of before) and nutella (I am not buying anymore of that for awhile!). I am just hungry all of the time!
  • Food Aversions: None this week.
  • Morning Sickness: Still none so I hope I am past that.
  • Symptoms: Fatigue, hungry all the time, and thirsty a lot. No heartburn this week! Woo Hoo!
  • What I miss: Energy!
  • What I'm looking forward to: Feb 17th we will hopefully (as long as baby pate cooperates) find out the gender! We have a Birth Class at the Med Center this Saturday- yay!
  • Other news: I have still been trying to research baby stuff, but there are sooo many options! If you are a parent and want to suggest your must have item or brand, please do! My whole church family is so excited about the pregnancy, and I love that! I am thinking I may want green in the nursery, but only if we paint our bedroom a different color bc its green too. Humm...
  • Names:
    • Boy name- Griffin Alan Pate
    • Girl name- We decided on Adalay/Adalei/Adelay and now we need to figure out the spelling and a middle name. Progress...

Milestones:
According to Babycenter.com : Your baby weighs about 8 1/2 ounces and measures 6 inches, head to bottom — about the size of a large heirloom tomato. Her arms and legs are in the right proportions to each other and the rest of her body now. Her kidneys continue to make urine and the hair on her scalp is sprouting. A waxy protective coating called the vernix caseosa is forming on her skin to prevent it from pickling in the amniotic fluid.

So current parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/babysitters etc, what would you recommend we register for and what would you say is a total waste??

  2. Get the book called "Baby Bargains" from Barnes 'n' Noble. It is organized by category and will give you pros/cons and reviews on LOTS of baby products (monitors, car seats, strollers, etc.) We took it with us when we registered and it was SOOO helpful! It came recommended by Sandy Carwile, so you know it's good! :)

  5. So I tried and tried to convince Aaron on naming Lilah, "Adalai". That would've been close to your baby's name (if Baby Pate is a girl of course). I'm so excited for the two of you. I want to suggest my "must have" item. If you decide to nurse, the Medela hand held breast pump. I know a hand held isn't as glamorous and the $200 breast pumps but I like it so much more and it is much more affordable. I experienced the grade A electric pumps in the hospital because Lilah was in the NICU for 10 days, and I would still choose the hand held for the following reasons: 1. You can take it with you anywhere. Need to pump at work? Church? Pull it right out of the diaper bag and get to work! 2. You can multi-task. I can pump and vacuum at the same time! There's a visual for ya. 3. The electric ones were far more uncomfortable for me. All that leaning forward and having to sit in one place.

That's all I got. Now if you go for formula...disregard everything I just typed :)
