Summer Adventures: Happy Birthday Eli!

We also celebrated Eli's birthday a few weeks ago. He turned 5!

Towards the end our boys were having a rough time sharing. New toys are hard to share, and understanding that someone just got a toy and should get to play with it by themselves for a bit it hard to understand... Oh young ones!

But by the end they were their silly selves!

Happy Birthday Buddy!

Summer Adventures: Happy Birthday Jesse!

In early August, we celebrated Jesse's 3rd birthday. Griffin had just woken up when we got there, so he really was kinda out of it at first.

They had face painting going on, and Griffin was just not so sure about it.

But of course, right before we left he decided he had to have his done!

He is an elephant... And that face ended up all over my dress later.

Happy Birthday Jesse!

And while I am at the blogging thing... Destiny and Jesse kept Griffin the other day because their daycare was closed randomly. They had the best time!

And just a fun one from daycare the other day. Apparently Griffin said that Miss Ke'jion is the best teacher because she let them use scissors :-) haha!

30 weeks and counting...

- How far along: 30 Weeks
- Total Weight Gained: haven't weighed myself in a month... Should prob do that!
- Sleep: Still pretty horrid. It's gonna be a long two months. I have to pee at least two or three times a night. It hurts to lay or roll over. I sound negative, sorry people. But night is the roughest part right now for sure!
- Best Moment of the Week (s): My mom went through all of our baby tubs last week and got stuff organized. Whew- how awesome?! Listening to Griffin talk about being a big brother or constantly saying things like "I think Grady is saying ..." Haha! Too cute.
- Movement: Lots of it! Especially when I lay down. Fun.
- Food Cravings: I have seriously thought of Chuys everyday. And we are actually not going often now because we are finally moved in and trying to cook at home :-( I feel like I could eat it every meal...
- Food Aversions: Not really.
- Symptoms: Shortness of Breath, Have to pee constantly, cant bend over very well, pelvic pain, tired...
- What I miss: Laying down being comfortable, not feeling like I have to pee all the time, really good sleep, being able to walk at a normal pace and not feel like I am waddling...
- What I'm looking forward to: Getting the nursery all set, sleeping (although who is kidding, that's gonna be awhile!), seeing Griffin be a big brother
- Gender & Name: It's a Boy! And we decided on Grady Allan (griffins is Alan and spelled like Mr.Pate and his fam's. Adding the L would make it spelled like my dad's. Might get confusing but we like the family significance for each side so oh well! )

So it's been a month since I made the time to do one of these updates. With moving, the start of a new semester at work, and tiredness I just can't keep up. Plus I have just really gotten uncomfortable this month, which sucks because I still have 2 whole months to go!! With Griffin I never really got uncomfortable, so this is a whole new ball game. I am trying hard to remain positive and not complain, but I am so over it. Poor Mr.Pate has to listen to me whine each night :-( Hopefully it will get better soon and not be miserable for two months... Hopefully :-)

Stand Up and Cheer!

Tonight we went to the first WKU game of the year. Servpro is a sponsor for Hilltopper Athletics, so Mr.Pate was running tailgating and got us tickets. Griffin did really well and enjoyed stalking Big Red once again (he pretty much just looks for him the whole game!).

Below is a picture of the Budwiser horses everyone was so excited about. I could care less about large horses :-)

We are even learning how to use our red towels during the game! Go Hilltoppers!

The new Pate House room by room: Kitchen & Dining Room

Let's take a look at our new Kitchen and Dining room, shall we?

The dining room is wide open to the living room. Then it has sliding doors out to our deck. It opens to the kitchen also.

And here is a pic from right before we moved in...

It has a gas stove and new dishwasher and fridge, all of which I love. It was already painted this orange color and we really liked it. I was worried about cabinet space bc our old kitchen was very large. But it has worked great!

We got a different dining room table bc ours was a square and would have taken up tons of space in there. Love the new table so much!!

Griffin's 3 Year Old Stats

Well Griffin Pate is officially 3 years old (and a month at this point). Here are a few stats and facts about him at this stage...

  • He weighs 28 lbs and is 36 1/2" tall.
  • He is still not the greatest sleeper. Lately he has slept fine through the night, but we have gotten into bad habits of laying with him to get him to fall asleep. Once we are settled in the new house we will tackle that...if I can get the energy up!
  • He still loves loves loves to dance. He really loves the Dance games for the Wii, and is pretty good at them too.
  • Favorites right now:
    • Foods: Chuy's, carrots, tomatoes, candy, gum
    • Shows: Daniel Tiger, Carebears (random but found it on netflix), Sprout
    • Toys: his "notebook", kitchen and food, daniel tiger toy, stuffed animals, zoo figurines,  spiderman figurine
    • Pastimes: Still loves to pretend to take orders and go make your food, making up his own songs, playing with his animals...
    • Books: Brown Bear Brown Bear; My No, No , No Day; Where the Wild Things Are
  • Potty Training: He is fully potty trained during the day and has been since January pretty much. We are just now tackling night, now that we are settled into the house. Wish us luck!
  • He knows colors, shapes, how to say the abcs and how to identify some letters, can count to 20, can cut pretty well, and is starting to be able to trace letters, numbers and shapes pretty good.

Griffin is a hilarious kid. He has a really unique personality and says the funniest things. He is really excited about being a big brother, and I think he is gonna rock at it!

Thats him for now :-)

The new Pate House room by room: Living Room

Up next in our new house tour, our Living Room! One of the things we loved about this house was it had a fireplace, which most in this neighborhood do not, and it was open to the dining room & kitchen.

The view from the dining room table...

From the tv corner (that's our master bedroom straight across)...

From the front door (you can see down the hallway and into Griffins room)...

From our bedroom door...

So it has vaulted ceilings, which makes it feel very big. We decided to paint it a bright green, just to be different and break up all the brown (from the carpet and couch). We have the softest carpet known to man, and I love it. Ha. Mr.Pate bought the couch without me even seeing it, and I love it so much. It's so comfy and soft. Good taste babe :-)

One thing that I was worried about with our move was losing the playroom we had. I just didn't know where we were gonna put all the toys! But we have arrange several of them on these shelves in the living room, and then the rest in Griffins room. It has worked awesome and Griffins been able to grab whatever he needed and just play while we sit comfortably. Win-Win!

We also have created a little area by the front door for bags etc and extra seating. Worked out perfectly.

We have a bookshelf by the fireplace for plenty of reading time. Ps. I love this shelf, and highly recommend it. We got it at Target this past year. Lots of storage and the top let's you display favorites easily.

Mr. Pate added this little seating area on the other side of the fireplace also, which I think works great. We had talked about bringing Griffins table from his room out here, but wanted it in the room for playing. This gives us the best of both worlds.

So that's our living room. We are enjoying it lots!

The new Pate house room by room: Master Bedroom

We have been in our new house almost a month now, and finally feeling pretty settled! After pretty much spending the whole summer packing, moving, living at Dustin's, and moving again, it is so nice to be HOME!

So we still have some work to do with actually decorating rooms and such, but this blog is so not about being perfect so I figured I would go ahead and show you the new place as-is. Up first, the master bedroom.

It is pretty huge, and turning out to be one of my favorite rooms in the house. Our old bedroom was pretty small, but we never cared because we just sleep there. This place feel humongous comparatively! Ha! We upgraded to a king size bed and I am telling you what, I am in love. I always said I didn't want a king size because they are so massive. But with the two of us, a really large dog, a fat cat and soon to be two kiddos- it was needed. Love love love it.

The room is right off the living room, and on the other side of the house from the kiddos.

Best part of the house, we now have 2 bathrooms! For those that didn't know, we have lived the last 8 years with one bathroom. Obviously first world problems, but it's so nice and convenient to have two!!

Our master closet is really large and I am loving the organization and storage.

That's our new space. More rooms to follow soon :-)

VBS 2014: Weird Animals

Last week we had VBS at church. The theme was "Weird Animals" and it was all about being yourself and understanding that God loves you just as you are, and that you should love others just as they are.

I was with the fabulous preschoolers once again, and they were adorable! We had a blast.

I have overheard Griffin playing with his toys this week and telling them the bible points ("you're alone Spider-Man? It's ok, even when you feel left out- Jesus loves you!"). Melt my heart!!! Love love love.
